This is thought to be due to the fact that security for accessing shared folders has been improved with 24H2.
One way to solve this is as follows. First, open the Windows Credentials item from the User Accounts control panel or from the search on the taskbar. Open Add Windows Credentials and enter the IP address, user name, and password of the NAS etc. in the credentials.

If this does not resolve the issue, you may need to take measures such as restoring the Windows security level to its previous state.
Selecting an email software for Windows 11

Some of you may have noticed that when you open the app list of Windows 11 or 10 recently, you will see a software called Outlook (new). If you already have Outlook installed, you will have two versions of Outlook, one plain and one classic.
It is better to think of this Outlook (new) as something different from the traditional Outlook. For now, its functionality and usability are not as good as the traditional Outlook. It is better to think of this as a replacement for Windows Mail, which will no longer be supported at the end of this year. Windows Mail will stop sending and receiving emails at the end of 2024 , so this is not just a case of support ending.
The problem is that Office 2024 Home, which is the most commonly purchased or pre-installed version of Microsoft Office for general households, does not include Outlook . Office 2021 Personal includes Outlook, but 2024 Home includes Power Point instead. However, those who need both Power Point and Outlook will likely choose Home & Business, so this change in Home is likely to cause confusion.
Currently, it is not possible to transfer data from Outlook (classic) = paid version to Outlook (new) = free version. Outlook paid version data file (pst) cannot be directly imported into the free version. Address book must be exported to a csv file and then imported. Importing from pst files is expected to be possible around spring next year.
If you are planning to purchase Office 2024 or a computer with it pre-installed, you should pay attention to the type.
Don't forget to update ExplorerPatcher

We previously introduced Explorer Patcher, which improves the usability of Windows 11. However, if you are using an old version of Explorer Patcher, there is a high possibility that you will encounter problems when updating to the latest version of Windows 11, "24H2."
After updating to 24H2 on our test computer, the desktop screen did not appear and the screen remained black. The Task Manager started, so it seemed that Windows 11 itself was running, but Explorer did not start, so we had to log out. When we logged in again, an ExplorerPatcher error occurred, so we updated to the latest version, and this time it started up normally and the desktop screen appeared.
The current version of Explorer Patcher is officially compatible with Windows 11 24H2, so we recommend that you update to the latest version before upgrading to 24H2.
Useful features of Windows 11 - 1

Windows 11, especially the latest version 23H2, comes with a lot of useful features. It has AI features and other features, but it has also become easier to take screenshots of the screen and videos.
When you press the "print screen" key on the screen you want to capture, the capture control panel will appear in the center of the screen as shown here. If you want to capture a still image, click the camera mark on the left, and if you want to capture a video, click the video mark on the right. A + cursor will appear, so specify the area of the screen you want to capture and start recording. If you want to capture a video, click the red ■ button to stop recording. This will open a window called snipping tool, from which you can save images and videos.
It's convenient because it doesn't require any special software and there's no need to paste the data from the clipboard into an image program as was previously necessary.
Many people have not upgraded to Windows 11 because of the difference in operability compared to Windows 10, but as we have seen in our previous article, it is possible to improve this. If you are unsure about upgrading to Windows 10, we recommend that you do so well in advance before support ends in October next year.
Business hours during the Obon holiday period

We will be open as usual during the Obon holiday period (August 10th to 18th) from 8am to 7pm.
If you use a courier service, collection and delivery may take longer than usual, so please allow plenty of time.
In addition, there may be cases where computers or network equipment that have not been used for a while after the summer holidays begin to malfunction. If you contact us, we will respond promptly.
Improving the usability of Windows 11
For those who have migrated from Windows 10 to 11 but find it difficult to use, we would like to introduce a piece of software called ExplorerPatcher, which brings the operability of Windows 11 closer to that of Windows 10.
The most inconvenient thing about switching to Windows 11 is that the right-click menu in Explorer and other apps has changed, requiring an extra click to copy and paste. Also, the ribbon display at the top of Explorer is gone, which has increased the amount of work. The taskbar can be moved to the center or left, but it can no longer be moved to the left or right or to the top.

ExplorerPatcher solves these problems and can be downloaded from here . Click Latest on the right side of the page, download ep_setup.exe at the bottom, and install it.
After launching the software, you can change the taskbar and system tray in the left menu to the Windows 10 format, and change the layout of the taskbar and ribbon. If the software does not work with Windows 11, or if the changes cause problems, uninstall it to return to the original. Right-click changes can also be made by correcting the registry, but this is a very tedious process, so we recommend this software.
Is paid antivirus software necessary?

When you purchase a new manufacturer-made computer, antivirus software is included, but most of them come with a one-month free trial version, and after that period a message will appear encouraging you to switch to the paid version.
In fact, in recent versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11, the performance of the standard Microsoft Defender (Windows Security) antivirus software has improved and is now surpassing that of paid antivirus software. In third-party evaluations of antivirus software, Defender has top-class performance in terms of both high virus protection and low false positive rates.
Recently, there are more and more viruses that do not install programs on your computer, but instead display fraudulent messages from your web browsing history. There are also many cases where people become infected by opening email attachments and spread the virus to other computers in their company that are connected to the network.
The current situation is that there is no significant difference in the defensive performance against such viruses between paid antivirus software and Defender.

If you have antivirus software other than Defender installed, Defender will stop working to prevent malfunction. If you do not intend to continue using the antivirus software after the free period has expired, uninstall it from the application settings or control panel.
Also, if you are using Defender, click the "Virus & threat protection" icon in the upper left of the first image, and turn on "Controlled folder access" under "Manage ransomware protection" at the bottom.
If you regularly use Google Chrome to browse the Internet, we recommend that you install the extension from this site to prevent viruses from entering your browser. (Click Add to Chrome in the upper right corner.)

How to Clone Disk with Software

There are two main ways to clone (replicate) a disk: replacing a hard disk with an SSD, or replacing the SSD with a larger capacity SSD to increase its capacity.
The first is to use a dedicated device called a disc duplicator .
Recently, there are also more convenient stand-type models available.
The advantage of these is that they work without using a computer, so they are reliable and not affected by the computer's performance or the OS status. The downside is that the equipment is expensive, so it may be a bit wasteful to use it only once. However, it is recommended for those who plan to use it many times in the future.

The second method of disk cloning is by software. Cloning software has long been a feature of disk backup software, and some of them have been available for free. However, most of them seem to require paid versions to perform cloning.
What we will introduce here are tools provided by each disk manufacturer, which allow you to clone for free if you are using a disk from that manufacturer.

In Windows 10, it was possible to create a local account if you disconnected the network during initial setup, but in the latest version, Windows 11, you cannot proceed from this screen.
If you want to set up using a local account, press Shift+F10 to open the command prompt, then enter the following command and press Enter.
BypassNRO.cmd
The computer will then restart, and if you are not connected to the Internet, the message "Not connected to the Internet" will appear in the bottom right of the screen.Clicking there will allow you to set up the user settings using a local account.
One Drive

As a countermeasure, download all data in One Drive to your computer, review the automatic synchronization settings and synchronize only what you need. If possible, back up your data to an external USB disk in addition to One Drive.

Whether you have a laptop or desktop computer, once or twice a year, use an air duster like the one in the photo on the left to clean the area around the fan and air intake and exhaust vents. If you still don't see hot air coming out of the exhaust vents, we recommend having it checked at a repair shop.
Windows

diskpart
DISKPART> list disk
DISKPART> select disk 0
DISKPART> list volume
DISKPART> select volume 2
DISKPART> assign letter=S:
DISKPART> exit

cd /d S:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\
ren BCD BCD.bak (back up the BCD file)
bootrec /fixboot (don't worry if you get an error that says access is denied)
bcdboot c:\Windows /l ja-JP /s S: /f ALL
bootrec /rebuildbcd
When you are asked to choose whether to install Windows, press y
exit
Once you have closed the command prompt, try rebooting and running Startup Repair twice.
The above operations are to repair the BCD file, which is usually hidden.
Fixing Windows not booting - 2

bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Fix Windows not starting - 1

There are several patterns of situations where Windows does not start, and the solution is different for each. First, when you turn on the power, the Windows or manufacturer logo usually appears and the computer starts up, but if you suddenly see a blue screen like the one on the left, this is how to fix it.
What to do first when Windows won't start
When Windows won't start, you may see a message on your computer screen indicating some kind of abnormality. You may see repeated automatic repairs, a sudden blue screen with a message in English, or a black screen with a message. The message may vary depending on the version of Windows, such as Windows 7, 10, or 11.

In such cases, it is dangerous to try to repair the problem by force. If there is an abnormality in the hard disk or SSD, the repair work may worsen the situation. If you can access the BIOS (settings screen) of the computer, first check whether the hard disk or SSD is recognized.
If possible, remove the disk from the computer and connect it to another computer, and check the disk status with hard disk inspection software. If there is an error, the disk cannot be repaired. If you need the data, give priority to that.

Cloning (duplicating) using software is often difficult if the disk has errors. Recently, there are disk stands that can skip errors, so you can use those. If the clone is successful, you can repair or recover data from the disk.
We will post specific repair methods for each error case next time.

Fast startup is one of the power options introduced in Windows 8. It is a feature that is turned on by default, but most people probably use it without even realizing it. This is designed to save the current state of your computer when you shut down Windows, and shorten the startup time the next time. This is fine when it works properly, but it often causes problems when you change your computer environment or replace parts. It also causes problems such as slow shutdown times.

To change this, open Power Options from the All Control Panel, click Change settings that are currently unavailable under Choose what the power buttons do on the left, and uncheck Fast Startup. Finally, click Save Changes at the bottom to complete the settings.
When fast startup is enabled and working, it certainly makes the computer start up faster. This is especially true for hard disks, but the speed difference is not that great for SSDs. If it doesn't work properly, the problem is that Windows won't start up. For Windows computers repaired by our company, we explain the problem to the customer and deliver them with fast startup disabled.

https://account.microsoft.com/account?lang=ja-jp

Repairing Windows with System Restore

When Windows won't start, performing a system restore is an effective method without losing data. However, in my experience, restore points are often not created on Windows 10 or 11 computers. This is because the restore point is disabled at the time of purchase, or the percentage of the disk allocated to the restore point is set to 0%. I will explain how to set up the system so that a restore point is created properly before a problem occurs.
First, when the blue screen that appears when automatic repair is performed appears, enter into trouble repair and a system restore menu will appear. Here you will ensure that the operation is performed correctly.

First, open the Control Panel. To open it, type control panel or con into the 🔎 mark at the bottom of the screen, and icons will appear on the left.

Click Recovery in the All Control Panel. Click Configure System Restore here and enable system protection for the C: drive that contains the system. Furthermore, increase the disk space usage to about 10%. If you have low disk space, a few percent will suffice. Now click OK to complete the settings.
This is a measure to prevent problems from occurring. If this is not done, you may have to save your data and perform a recovery (initialization) procedure. We take this measure for all computers that are successfully restored and then deliver them to you.
SSD replacement is recommended to improve the operating speed of Windows 10 and 11

If your Windows 10 or 11 computer takes a long time to start up or run, the most likely cause is the hard disk. Especially in computers upgraded from Windows 7 or 8.1, the hard disk speed can no longer keep up with the weight of the OS, even if there is nothing wrong with the hard disk.
In such cases, it is more effective to replace the memory or CPU with an SSD (Solid State Drive). We will select the most suitable SSD based on the disk condition and disk usage of your computer and replace it.
The replacement method involves creating a clone (duplicate) disk from the original disk, so your important user data, software, and settings will be returned in a usable state as before. All SSDs we use are from leading manufacturers, so you can use them with confidence.
We will respond to your requests regarding LCD panel replacement.

Many laptop problems are related to the LCD panel. Closing the LCD panel with a ballpoint pen or other object in it, or even just being squeezed in a bag on a crowded train can cause damage to the panel, especially in the case of modern slim laptops.
We will propose a work method according to your needs. You want to fix it as quickly as possible because you use it for work. If we have the panel in stock, we can deliver it to you on the same day. You want to get it done cheaply even if it takes a few days, and in some cases you don't mind using a used panel that has been confirmed to work. We will find a panel that meets your requirements and provide you with a quote. Even in this case, the repair will be completed in about a week.
